There were a string of Irish events held all around Tyneside over St. Patrick’s day and the weekend, including a stage at Grey’s Monument where musicians and dancers entertained the crowds.

We had the honour of being international representatives for the St. Patrick’s Day Remembrance service held on Friday 17th March, at the Eldon Square War Memorial. The ceremony was held to commemorate the Tyneside Irish (Northumberland Fusiliers) who battled at the Somme with many lives lost.

Zélie Guerin, Director of International Newcastle was presented with shamrocks along with representatives of many communities present. Afterwards, we were welcomed to the Civic Reception at the Tyneside Irish Centre.
