How to deal with homesickness was the advice given at a seminar for students at Newcastle University delivered by International Newcastle.  The talk titled ‘Adjusting to Life Overseas’ was for new international students and covered issues like feeling homesick, tips for dealing with this, where to go for help and reassuring students that its very normal to feel like this at times.

The session concluded with a fun “speak like a geordie session” with the students hearing some common phrases spoke by a local and had practice at repeating them back.

The students also enjoyed reading the geordie tea towel dialect translator and seeing International Newcastle’s mascot ‘Gingerbread Geordie’.
